Dr. Jean-Luc Niel is a board certified Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeon licensed in the state of Maryland. He was born in Geneva, Switzerland and raised in many different countries, to include France, Brazil, and Mexico before reaching the United States at the age of 15.
Dr. Niel completed both his undergraduate and dental school degree at the University of Connecticut. He was then commissioned into the US Air Force and had assignments in Washington D.C and Turkey. He completed his surgical residency at Travis AFB in California in 2008. His Active Duty tour then took him to Germany, and as the Chief of Oral Surgery at Ramstein Air Base, he had the privilege of treating wounded warriors returning from Afghanistan and Iraq.
Dr. Niel continued his path into academics by serving as Program director of the Oral Surgery residency at Travis AFB, and currently serves as the program director for Oral Surgery at the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland.
Dr. Niel is closing in on his 20 years of Active Duty and is due to retire in December 2018. He is excited to transition back into civilian life and serve the community. He is a member of the American Association of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons and the Middle Atlantic Society of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons.
Dr. Niel, his wife, daughter, and son reside in Gaithersburg, Maryland. He is an avid golfer and enjoys traveling abroad.
